Two hearts and one long fish and finally he or she was caught depending on who is telling the story.

The furtive looks, the special smiles and the odd stolen kiss led all of us to believe that a great fishing expedition was underway.   However after 5 years of fishing we wondered when would they learn to catch. Then the grand moment arrived, that day when Alana and David announced their engagement…

Fishermen are intrepid hunters and some fish are so rare and difficult to catch that when one is finally caught there is much jubilation. There was no one more jubilant than David’s mum Catherine. She tried on Alana’s bling rock, and was enthralled, delighted and filled with joy that her son was about to be caught. With a twinkle in her eye and joy pressed on her lips Catherine passed away before David placed the wedding band on Alana’s finger but no one was happier than she.

For the next few months as they planned and styled their big day we all became familiar with the word hessian and rustic. We all now know every distributor for hessian.

The David and Alana we all know have big hearts of love, are servant hearted and are incredibly loyal to friends and family.  They touched all of us by including us all in the planning of this great fishing adventure.

Alana’s wedding dress was hand crafted and sewn from the heart of her sister. Matron of honour Liz Jesson created beautiful table number books. Every guest depending on their table number wrote a note, a scribble, a poem, and a thought from the heart that will be read on each wedding anniversary. Love abounded as friends and family made posies, set tables together, laughed and hugged and cried with joy.   Beautiful homemade rustic candle holders made by David adorned the tables, an arbour created for his future wife.

On that day when she walked up the aisle escorted by her daughter Rebecca and sons Andrew and Daniel our hearts just melted for this couple who had loved long, who had waited for each other patiently and who glowed with joy and peace. Kate Jason’s hauntingly beautiful voice filled the chapel with the sound of love.

The moment the pronouncement that the fish had finally been caught friends and family erupted with a crescendo of joy, excitement and love. And that is how this story ends because in this story the couple really and truly did live happily ever after… and so joy and love followed them.
