Our heart and soul was just filled with happiness last night as the Opening of the New Playground delivered joy to 200 adults and children. The air was just filled with the sound of shrieks, giggles, running feet. The sound of happy children and happy parents. To every one that came to the Opening of the New Playground thank you for sharing our evening of accomplishment.

To the 100 plus volunteers who gave over 1000 hours of their time thank you. 14,000 balls individually washed for the ball pit. (although only 7,500 were put in. We have a policy of washing the balls on a weekly basis. A big job but toddlers aren’t always the most hygienic.) There were over 10,000 ties used and nearly a kilometre of tubing. From the bottom of my heart thank you to the team at New Directions for how you love this city and our beautiful home for families.
To the youth last night who put in volunteer time on the construction of the playground but then who turned around and helped run activities for families last night thank you. You absolutely rock. Love your heart of service and love for other people. To Dylan our children’s worker and Jono our youth worker thank you for organising last night.
Thank you to the public for your patience and your understanding. As a not for profit we choose to do business with purpose. The process is as important to us as the outcome. The income that is generated through the playground in turn helps to produce our army of volunteers who serve and love our community. So thank you.
