Real Wedding: Corinna and Graeme

For months we had Easter Saturday free and it seemed that it was being kept for a very special couple. Corinna a missionary from Africa and Graeme a farmer from Scottsdale were destined to have an Easter Saturday Wedding.

I knew right away that this marriage was a marriage made in heaven. They were so in love with one another, gracious towards one another, respectful, considerate, kind and gentle in all their pre wedding preparations.

It was a wedding with a difference and harked back to some of my memories of weddings as a child.

Remember when the cars were done up with shaving cream, glad wrap and inside they were confetti dropped. All that was missing at this Easter Saturday Wedding was some old tin cans.

Buffet lunch with all the goodness that goes with roast chicken, beef and pork. Roast vegetables, salads and half way through we had to make more apple sauce and gravy because the food just required liberal dressing.
Buffet lunches are a favourite with farming communities. What can beat the goodness that goes with roast chicken, beef and pork, gravy and apple sauce. Chef Phil made a huge selection of roast vegetables and salads.
Chef Will carving up the roasts. What a beautiful day it was to serve the roast on the deck buffet on the deck.

The dessert bar was filled with desserts that I enjoyed as a child visiting farming friends: pavlova, cheesecake, apple pie, tarts.

The wedding cake was one of the best we have ever seen. 3 layers of traditional fruit cake. As Chef Phil Piper said, "I bet it was made with an old recipe by someone who is of an older generation." Sure enough we discovered nan at age 80 plus had made the bottom layer. Each layer was a contribution by different members of the family.
The wedding cake was one of the best we have ever seen and dare I say it tasted. 3 layers of traditional fruit cake. It was laden with moist rich fruit. As Chef Phil Piper said, “I bet it was made with an old recipe by someone who is of an older generation.” Sure enough we discovered nan at age 80 plus had made the bottom layer. Each layer was a contribution by different members of the family. Love it when family contributes to the wedding.
Orchids in vases were chosen as the table centrepieces.
